SUGARPLUM FAERIES CHAPTER GUIDELINES

Effective as of January 1st 2018

1. We are a STAND PROUD Chapter. Full regalia (red hats/purple attire or pink hats/lavender attire for members younger than fifty) is required at all lunches, breakfasts & play-dates for the duration of the event. Failure to wear a hat will be met with the wearing of an ugly hat the queen will have on her at all events. During the months of April, July and your birthday months you may wear in reverse (purple on head and red on shoulder).

2. Children and Spouses may NOT attend events/play-dates unless discussed with and then invited by queen.

3. Play-Dates may include teas, lunches, breakfasts, community service, dinners, train rides, visits to plays, places of interest, etc. – anything that would be fun and interesting.

4. We DO have chapter dues of $1 a month ($12 a year) to support additional items supplied during the year, and a Supporting Membership in the Red Hat Society ($30/year) is required. If funds are needed to pay yearly membership fee, we may pass a red hat. Please talk to the Queen.

5. Guests at Sugarplum Faeries Events:

  • Members may bring potential members to Sugarplum Faeries events with the permission a minimum of 2 days prior to event of the Queen or Queen for the Day. The morning of or on the way to the event is not acceptable. There may be occasions when the size of the group must be limited so the hostess must be contacted before a guest is invited. The exception to this is our annual Christmas Party and our 2 annual Teas. These events are planned months in advance and are difficult to accommodate a guest. The only exception to these exceptions, are if a guest officially joins the Sugarplum Faeries no later than 1 week prior to these 3 events.

  • A potential member may only attend 2 events in one year without having to join the Red Hat Society & sign a copy of the Sugarplum Faeries guidelines, no matter who brings that potential member. In other words, a potential member may not come two times as one member's guest and two more times as another member's guest, etc. In order to attend more than two events in a year the potential member MUST become a registered member OF THIS CHAPTER.

6. Each new member must be email and Facebook savvy. The Queen will send to every faerie a beginning of month email detailing what the upcoming month has in store for the chapter. She will also send a reminder email 1 week prior to an event. The Sugarplum Faeries have a Facebook page that will also list the upcoming events. You can and should always check with this website in the Events & Food section to see what’s happening in the coming year and mark your calendars appropriately. Queen Sugarplum makes sure no chapter faerie has an excuse not to know what is happening, where it is happening, how to dress, what to bring or when it is happening. RSVP's are required whether it's a YES or a NO.

7. All members must be willing to open your home to a potluck luncheon at least 1x per year (members who joined before 2018 are grandfathered in and need not abide by this point unless they wish too). You may not be asked to do this but you MUST be willing in case there is a need.

8. All members must be willing to "dress-up" for our occasional themed events. At the very least you must dress in RHS regalia if not in a themed costume. This is supposed to be fun so why not have some fun.

9. Every chapter faerie is required to wear at every event a name tag to provide any and everyone we come in contact with a name to go along with our faces. The Queen understands many may know everyone’s name. However, The Queen has issued an edict on this matter and it will stand. Failure to wear a name tag at any event will result in the faerie without one being fined a single quarter ($0.25) to be dropped into a piggy bank each time they are without. This money will also go towards the chapter funds for end of year necessities. If you do not like the way a pin from a name tag pokes a hole in your clothing or the weight of it the Queen will be happy to provide each faerie with 1 (one) plastic sleeved name tag that has a clip on to prevent holes and weight.

10. Each and every faerie has a voice to be used for concerns and suggestions and the Queen is not without ears. She will hear whatever needs to be said and will consider all concerns and suggestions as important. With that in mind each faerie will understand the Queen of the Sugarplum Faeries has final say on everything that is put forth to her. Please inform the Queen of your concerns and suggestions privately, away from other faeries because if the Queen decides in opposition of what is being said to her, she does NOT wish to do so in front of the entire chapter. This is uncomfortable for ALL concerned. No one wants this!

11. Everyone MUST RSVP to each and every event with a YES or No whether they plan on attending or not. Due date for all RSVP’s is 2 days before the planned event unless an earlier date is required and asked for. It is draining on the Queen to constantly worry whether she will have enough seats, or other items for all faeries who wish to attend. If a chapter faerie does not RSVP in time she may NOT attend that event. It is considered disrespectful to the Queen or the hostess of an event to not be forewarned of the number of guests to expect. Events are outings, luncheons and breakfasts. Anything on the calendar is considered an event.

The Sugarplum Faeries Chapter was registered on July 5th, 2014.

(Guidelines adopted September 9th 2014)

Update January 1st 2018

*If at any time either the member or the Queen feels this chapter is not a good fit for you the member will be asked to find or may find another chapter to join. This is for the happiness of not only the Queen and all the members of this chapter but also for the future happiness of the member who is asked to leave.*
